A septic what?

We've made another trip today and we've been learning all about how life goes on out there.

Tank water collected from the roof of the house and sheds for drinking - What the?

We have 3 water tanks out here and creek water for outside but it's a tad hard getting used to seeing pipes running from the house into the tank and knowing that your water is coming off the rusted tin roof.

There is a Septic what?

Yes, for those who don't know a septic tank is where your 'toilet' waste goes. Its kind of YUCK knowing your shit is out in a hole out the back isn't it? lol

It appears we may have been a little uneducated about a few things but we are getting there. I also asked the BIG question to the reality and that was... What if we run out of water? EEEKKKK

Don't make me pull this car over!!

We are on our trip home and I'm feeling like this.....

No we aren't home yet? Stop fighting, don't make me pull this car over! Leave her alone, keep your hands to yourself! GAH, Long trips and kids do not agree...

Maybe we'll take a day off tomorrow... I can't take another 8 hours in the car while the kids behave like this..

It started out as a great day and it went down hill from there. Get to the Reality and they have No idea were coming because of lack of communication  Keys aren't with them so we have to put all of our stuff into the garage including TV, PC etc, see a black snake out the front and a we get a flat tyre. Add to this the kids now carrying on in the back and hubby and I are OVER IT already and its only day 1... What have we done!!!

We have some GREAT travel articles including tips over at MWWAH. Do you have any other travel tips for kids?

Moving day is here... Eeekkk

So we're on our way bright and early so we can pick up the keys to the "farm" as the kids are calling it.  Isn't mobile broadband a wonderful piece of technology. Traffic sucks as does the Katoomba road works and this drive is making us more and more eager to get out of suburbia and into rural living.

2-3 more hours of driving ahead and then a return trip this arvo means we will all have sleepy bums and sore legs when we get home from being stuck in the car. So far so good, no whining "are we there yet" which is good because we still have a few more trips to make while we move in.

SO many dead animals on the road I guess thats something we'll have to get used to seeing. The amount of dead Kangaroos is amazing, anyone would think they there are more Kangaroos than people round here and yet you hardly see them at all.

Lease Signing tomorrow... YAY

It feels like we are saying good bye to the past and HELLO to the future.

Tomorrow we make our first trip to pick up keys and sign leases. I'm nervous, anxious but SOO excited for this wonderful change. So much to do and so little time. Is it weird that we are signing leases for a house we haven't actually seen?

I'd hope to say bye to everyone down here but I've run out of time. Also I think it would be difficult on the kids? What do you think- Party to farewell us or make a quick escape?

Time to pack!

Packing, packing and more packing. We can sign leases in 2 weeks and I'd like to move in ASAP. I'm so excited about the move even though it's a HUGE change.

It's difficult to pack for a house of 5, maybe it would be easier to pack the kids before the toys? Seems like everything that I pack away is some how unpacked before the box gets taped up.

No more worrying about the kids for now as they seem excited enough. Only worrying about coping with spiders and snakes... Eeekkkkk.. Anyone else terrified of snakes and spiders? Might have to buy some Baygon shares..lol

Movin' to the country

Today is the Big day after weeks of searching, planning and admittedly dreaming we have the news!!

Our move to the country is happening in 2 short weeks we'll be packed up and headed for sleepy Molong (past Orange for those who don't know).

I can't wait for the tree change. I wonder how the kids will cope?

Have you had to move your child's schooling? How did they cope and do you have any tips for making the transition easier?
